My First Photograph Taken In a Studio with My Mother
I was a little girl of only
10 years. I needed to get a passport-sized photo for admission in a new school.
I was about to be admitted in Auxilium Convent, Bandel, for which I was quite
excited. My parents asked me to be dressed in my previous school’s uniform for
this photo shoot session.
My mother got me dressed in
the red and white checked tunic and white shirt, with a little red tie, which
was the uniform of my previous school. I went to a studio in Bandel with my mother,
as my father had to work overtime that day. The photographer uncle was a kind
and cheerful person. He asked me to sit upright on a pouf in his studio and
clicked my photo. He clicked twice to make sure of getting a good-quality
passport photo of mine.
When I was asked to get up
after the photo shoot, I thought of having a photo with my mother as well. I
requested the photographer, “Uncle, please can you click a photo of me and
mother too?” He readily agreed and asked me and my mother to sit on a couch,
before a closed window of his studio. Though my mother was initially reluctant
for this photo shoot, she relented to my repeated requests.
Then we sat together on the
comfortable couch. As the photographer never asked us to smile, both of us had
a serious expression, as can be seen in the photo above! But we were very happy
to have this photo, which was my first experience of photo shoot in a studio.
The photographer informed us that he would deliver the photos in a couple of
days. My mother told him that my father would come to collect the photos on the
scheduled day.
I was waiting eagerly to see
my photos on the day when it was supposed to be delivered. I was more
interested in seeing my photo with my mother than my passport photos. When my
father brought all the photos packed in a brown envelope, I could not simply
wait to open it! I was so delighted to see this photo, which is now a precious
memory for me!
Still now, I can feel the
delight of that little girl, who was so happy to be clicked together with her
dear Mom! After that, I had numerous photos with my parents. But never I felt
so much excitement as in the case of this photo!
